We closed a successful academic year 2014 / '15 with our Sommerkonzert - Abschlußkonzert on 11.07. Congratulations to all of our graduated students! We wish them further achievements in the new academic year! The images, kindly provided to us by Paul Sullivan, can be seen in our gallery.

During the summer holidays (15.07 - 28.08.15) regular spiral school of music students will enjoy a pleasant break while our summer school is in full swing. Our summer courses welcome children and adults of any age and level. By purchasing one or more of our lesson-cards, you / your child would have the chance to take lessons in the Piano, Violin, Guitar, Ukulele, Singing, Cello, Mouth Organ or Early Childhood Music Education from a professional and experienced teacher. Being part of our Summer School also enables you to continue as a student of spiral school of music in academic year 2015 / '16.

Once again we were invited to and will take part in Das 3. STIERisch gute Sommerfest on 13.06 at Arnswalder Platz in our beloved Bötzowkiez. Our stand No. 12 will sure be full of information and surprises but here are a couple revealed : we are delighted to announce our collaboration with UK based pianist and composer Elena Cobb. Her fabulous piano books will be offered for sale on our stand from 2 till 7 pm on the day of the fest. Don't miss this unique chance to purchase your copy!

☆彡student of the month : Mr Arnaud Boeglin, student of Denitsa Mineva, is a hard-working regular spiral school of music student who, despite his full time job, is deeply engaged in his violin studies. former spiral school of music student Michael Altmann (piano & singing) returned to us to record his upcoming release Lulladie in our studio. attracted by the lovely mild sound of our Wollmann upright piano and the perfect acoustics of our studio, Michael and his crew had a lot of fun recording! we look forward to his promising release under the artist name Blake Day.

Days getting longer, sun brighter and our students - wiser! Wheels spinning full speed at school, we could not stop them even in the Winterferien when our dear students visiting Berlin during holidays returned to us having attended our summer school in August '14.
☆彡student of the month : having started taking piano lessons at age 3,5, today nearly 5-year-old Sonata Love Go is making big progress in her studies. Perfect match with her teacher Denitsa Mineva, a lot of support and encouragement at home in practising assigned homework as well as taking lessons twice per week, has all pushed her enthusiasm forward. 
The results are inevitably positive!
The Butterfly song from Irina Gorin's Tales of a Musical Journey Book 1 has inspired Love to craft a beautiful butterfly gift for her teacher. The Fish song from the same book made Love draw a wonderful picture showing the song's story about singing fish (see images below).

as mentioned in our newsletter no. 3, a few parents have reported they encounter difficulties when trying to support their child's home practice. as there is about a ton of articles covering the issue on the internet already, we are not going to write another essay here. however we would like to offer parents a helping hand.
dear cooperative parents, when you sign up your child for instrumental or voice lessons, you inevitably enter the triangle student-teacher-parents, the base of your child's musical education apparatus. in order for the latter to provide the necessary healthy support, each part must take full responsibility and cooperate with the other two. without that, your child's progress is nearly impossible.
here are a few points and tools to help you and your child :
 * provide your child with a decent instrument and place it in a comfortable area rich of light and free of noise and distractions.
* practice habits must start developing after the initial lesson. explain to your child from the very beginning that learning to play an instrument includes practising at home. practice is not optional just like cleaning your child's teeth, taking a shower and doing school homework aren't.
* set practice time for your child, preferably at the same time every day. 
* it is important to practise every day, starting with 5 minutes and gradually increasing the amount of time. do not skip days and do long practice sessions afterwards to compensate.
* sit actively in lessons as much as possible, take notes to refer to when it is home practice time.
* follow the teacher's homework assignment notes and ask for clear elaboration when you do not understand something.
